Why We Created BoardTalk

Neal Harrington is on a mission to solve the "last mile" of fundraising: the moment a board member wants to help but doesn't know what to say.
Neal Harrington is on a mission to solve the "last mile" of fundraising: the moment a board member wants to help but doesn't know what to say. As the founder of BoardTalk, Neal is bridging the gap between high-level influence and authentic action, Executive Directors and Development Direcotrs the tools they need to reach out with confidence and clarity on behalf of their board to raise funds from their networks for their organizations.
Neal built BoardTalk with Doug Lebda, CEO of LendingTree, because they saw a recurring friction point in every organization they worked with—leaders have the networks, but they rarely have the time or the "perfect words" to activate them. By combining AI-driven personalization with a collaborative command center, BoardTalk allows board members to maintain their authentic voice while Harrington's technology handles the heavy lifting. It’s about turning the "ask" from an intimidating chore into a seamless, shared success.
This focus on "tech-enabled authenticity" is the culmination of a 23-year career at the intersection of leadership and innovation. Before launching BoardTalk, Neal was tapped by LendingTree CEO Doug Lebda to completely refashion the political fundraising model. There, Neal pioneered a sophisticated "proxy" system that allowed donors to scale their personal outreach without losing the human touch—a blueprint that eventually became the DNA of BoardTalk.
Neal’s track record for driving growth is rooted in his time as the Founder of Harrington Forward Thinking (HFT). Over the course of 50+ nationwide operations, he helped clients raise more than $100M, consistently seeing average contributions grow by 155% by focusing on deepening donor relationships rather than just increasing volume.
A recipient of multiple national awards from the American Association of Political Consultants for his work with Red Stampede, Neal has spent two decades proving that technology shouldn't replace the human connection—it should empower it. Today, he’s putting that power directly into the hands of board members everywhere.
